The large treeshrew is native to Sumatra and adjacent small islands, and to the lowlands and hills of Borneo. It is the most terrestrial of all treeshrew species, usually found on the forest floor, where it does most of its foraging, though it spends part of its time in trees. It is most abundant in primary tropical rainforest (Wikipedia, general species account).
