Selangor Mud Snake

The Selangor mud snake is a slender water snake of the family Homalopsidae with a tiny head barely wider than the neck, smooth scales and exceptionally wide ventral scales. It is found in West Malaysia and Singapore, bears live young, and is rare; it is one of the species called lost and rediscovered in a 2024 study. Its name reflects the type locality, which was erroneously thought to be in India (Reptile Database, general species account).
