The plain flowerpecker is a tiny bird of the flowerpecker family, about 9 cm long, with no marked difference between males and females. It was described by Robert Swinhoe in 1870 and is found from the central Himalaya through western Indonesia to Taiwan, in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest, and like many flowerpeckers it favours mistletoe for foraging. The subspecies of north-eastern India, extending into Myanmar, Laos and southern China, is treated by Pamela Rasmussen as a separate species, leaving the plain flowerpecker in the more restricted sense (Wikipedia, general species account).
