Basic stats

Clutch size

100–400 eggs

Incubation period

3–4 days

The common tree frog, also called the four-lined, golden or striped tree frog, is in fact a species complex containing various cryptic species. The body is moderately slender, ovoid and slightly flattened above. Many past authors united it with the Indian tree frog in P. maculatus, but today they are generally considered distinct (Wikipedia, general species account).

Mating takes place at the margins of shallow pools, where males arrive first and call the females with a distinctive loud, duck-like sound. The female places 100–400 eggs in a protective foam nest attached to vegetation or other objects above the water. The eggs hatch after 3 to 4 days and develop into adult frogs in about 7 weeks (Wikipedia, general species account).
