The green cat snake is a colubrid snake of South Asia, China and South-east Asia. It is a medium to large, slightly flattened, medium-bodied snake with a moderately long tail, a head distinct from a narrow neck and a rounded snout. The back scales are smooth with single or double pits near the tip. Its long prehensile tail suits it to life in trees. Maximum length is 190 cm, with 115 cm common (Wikipedia, general species account).
It inhabits primary and secondary forests, including montane zones, and can also be found at sea level in coastal forests. By day it stays coiled among tree branches, and at night it hunts actively, feeding mainly on lizards. It is occasionally seen on the ground searching for prey. Hatchlings begin to change colour after 8–9 months (Wikipedia, general species account).
