One of the largest remaining forest blocks in the peninsula, around Temengor Lake on the Thai border. All ten of the peninsula's hornbills occur here, and flocks of plain-pouched hornbills cross the lake in their thousands at some times of year. Elephants, tapirs and tigers still range through the forest. The Royal Belum State Park needs a permit, usually arranged through a lodge or operator.
